I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter at Steppenwolf Theatre- a new work adapted from the writings of UIC Honors College alum, Erika L. Sánchez! Adapted by Isaac Gómez and directed by Sandra Marquez, I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter is a poignant and vibrant love story about young Chicanas who, in trying to find the truth about the people and world around them, end up finding themselves.
Julia, a Chicago high school student, navigates the trials and tribulations of following her dreams of becoming a writer alongside the death of her sister, Olga—who might not have been quite as perfect as she seemed.
