Requirements
There are two major requirements for remaining in the Honors College:
1. Grade Point Average Heading link
All Honors College students are required to maintain a minimum 3.4 cumulative grade point average for all coursework taken at UIC.
2. Honors College Activity Units and Capstone Heading link
The Honors College curriculum requires students to satisfactorily complete one Honors Activity each term (Fall and Spring) while also accumulating Honors Units. Students earn Honors Units by completing Honors Activities each semester. This includes an Honors Capstone project in the senior year. Honors Units are a distinct unit of measurement from credit hours, as not all Honors Units are course-based.
The total number of required Honors Units varies, depending upon when a student enters the Honors College (e.g. as a first year student, a transfer student, or a continuing UIC student). Please consult the Honors College Handbook for additional details.
