Student Caps and Gowns
If you have pre-ordered your cap and gown, the UIC Bookstore is working with Jostens to determine the easiest way to refund graduates for their purchase of regalia. We assure you that you will get a refund and as soon as we have a process in place, it will be announced on the Commencement website and the Bookstore’s Facebook page.
Honors Capstone
The Capstone Completion Form must be submitted by Friday, May 1 (tentative – this date may change). You must complete your Capstone, including all paperwork, to receive your gold stole and certificate.
Graduating Student Speaker(s)
The Honors College would like to support your opportunity to share your graduation message with your peers. We will still accept drafts of Graduating Student Speaker speeches. If selected, we will ask you to videotape your remarks to be shared virtually with your fellow graduates and their families. More than one student may be selected.
If you would like to be considered for our Graduating Student Speaker, please submit a draft of what you would say in your address to Stacie McCloud at smccloud@uic.edu by Friday, April 10. You should plan on speaking for 3-5 minutes.
Riddle Prize for Outstanding Graduate
The Honors College proudly awards the Donald and Leah Riddle Prize to one outstanding graduating senior regardless of major field. While we will be unable to recognize the recipient at the Convocation, we aim to continue the selection process. The award is based on academic excellence and leadership. The winner receives a bronze medallion and a $1,000 cash prize. The Riddle Prize is made each year in recognition of the former UIC Chancellor Donald Riddle and his wife Leah and honors the Riddles’ contribution to the campus.
The application is available through UIC SnAP. It requires a one-page resume, a personal statement, and at least one letter of recommendation. To apply, please visit here.
Deadline for application: April 1, 2020

- Faculty Fellow of the Year
- Capstone Advisor of the Year
